Below we will share the latest prices to enter the beaches and parking prices. We will tell you based on our experience whether it’s possible to swim at these beaches. Although we provide prices for parking for those who rent scooters we have a travel.
The two addresses we provide for each beach are scooter parking and beach drop-off when taking a Grab. For those unaware, Grab and Gojek operate like Uber, you can choose a scooter option or a car. The scooter is the most cost-effective and quickest to get around Uluwatu for ~$1 to $2 each way. When it comes to swimming at beaches, we will provide our opinion and if we were able to swim. At your own risk, always take precautions and assess the strength of the current before swimming.
Best Uluwatu Bali Beaches (Google My Maps)
We created a Google My Maps with all the Uluwatu beach locations in this blog post pinned below. This will allow you to see where the activities are located to plan your Bali Itinerary with ease. Also make sure to Bookmark our Ultimate Bali Travel Guide for the inside scoop on everything you need to know!
1. Suluban Beach (Blue Point Beach)
Suluban Beach is a gem located among the rugged cliffs of the Uluwatu Bali Beaches. Accessible via a narrow staircase carved into the cliffside, Suluban Beach offers a sense of tranquility that is unmatched. As you descend towards the shore, you’re greeted by towering limestone formations and crystal-clear turquoise waters extending beyond the sandy shores. It’s conveniently located near Uluwatu Temple where you can experience a Kecak fire dance!
Renowned among surfers for its challenging waves, Suluban Beach is a very popular beach for advanced surfers. However, even non-surfers such as us enjoyed observing the breathtaking beauty of this picturesque beach. The towering cliffs leading out into the Indian Ocean provide a unique picture-perfect moment.
We highly recommend visiting early in the morning (8:00 -10:00) when it’s less busy and checking during low tide. Low tide is required for this beach and when the water level is at its lowest! You won’t be able to visit this beach during high tide as the water will cover the beach completely. You can check the tides here. There is parking available and is located near Single Fin Beach Club. More Info below! If you’re interested in visiting one of the many Uluwatu’s beach clubs you can check out Single Fin in the area. Single Fin and Jeffry Warung are both good places to grab brunch in the area. Both offer great cliff views and are part of our 14 best Uluwatu restaurants guide.
Suluban Scooter Parking: Blue Point, Jl. Pantai Suluban No.18, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Same address as scooter parking.
Suluban Beach Parking Cost: IDR 2,000-5,000 for scooters
Beach Entry Price: IDR 5,000 per person
How To Access Suluban Beach: ~10-15 minute walk down a set of stairs. There are some hand railings but it can be difficult if you have mobility issues.
Can you swim at this beach: No, we would not recommend swimming at Suluban Beach as the waves tend to be very rough. It’s more suitable for surfers or those wishing to enjoy the beach, and picturesque cliff formations!
2. Uluwatu's Dreamland Beach
Dreamland Beach is one of our favorite all-encompassing Uluwatu Bali beaches! This beach is nestled within a sheltered cove and framed by lush vegetation. It’s a fantastic beach suitable for both those who want a nice beach to relax and surfers.
We loved that this beach didn’t feel overcrowded and had a lot of room to lounge. If you’re into surfing, this is also a great beach with moderate-sized waves! There are also surfboards that you can rent or sign up to take group lessons. For those who enjoy lounging, there are sun beds available to rent for ~IDR 100,000 (~ $6.30). We can see why this beach is a dream because of the abundance of soft golden sand and aqua-blue waters.
Additionally, there’s a local restaurant and bar available, serving delicious meals and refreshing beverages. There are toilets available which you can use for IDR 3,000.
This beach is accessible via a winding path where you will see many motorbikes parked off to the side.
Scooter Parking: Jalan Pecatu Graha, Pantai Dreamland, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Same address as scooter parking.
Dreamland Beach Parking Cost: IDR 5,000 for scooters
Dreamland Beach Entry Price: IDR 5,000 per person
How To Access The Beach: From the parking ~1-minute walk, only a few stairs down to the beach. This is one of the more accessible beaches in Uluwatu.
Can you swim at this beach: Yes, at your own risk. We felt comfortable swimming at Dreamland Beach with moderate-sized waves among others. Many others were swimming as well. We would not recommend it for smaller children or those who aren’t good swimmers. We witnessed a wave pull a child out into the water and others jumped in to save the child. It was a scary moment for the child and parents, luckily there was a lot of help closeby.
3. Bingin Beach
Bingin Beach is a hidden gem that we were so happy to stumble upon. It’s tucked away from the busy crowds, on a secluded stretch of coastline offering a world-renowned sunset experience.
Bingin Beach is situated at the bottom of limestone cliffs and is known to be a less busy surfing area. You will find many accommodations such as bed and breakfasts, hotels, villas, restaurants, and warungs. This beach has a lot of restaurants on the beach and we enjoyed lounging while watching the talented surfers. It’s likely not suitable for beginner surfers due to all the coral, reef rocks, and large waves. The beach itself doesn’t offer a lot of depth and area for lounging especially when the water levels peak. If you do decide to swim, keep in mind it can be very slippery due to all the rocks and shallow coral.
We loved visiting this beach late afternoon where you can find fresh seafood restaurants and lounge on the beach patios! In our opinion, this is the best beach to watch the sunset in comparison to the other Uluwatu Bali beaches.
For dinner, we visited the Lucky Fish restaurant where you can eat the freshest seafood and ice-cold Bintangs. As the sun sets over the horizon, it casts a stunning golden glow and incredible reflection on the water.
Scooter Parking: 54R7+VF Pecatu, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Jl. Labuansait Jl. Pantai Bingin, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80364, Indonesia.
Then you need to find the signs in the first image of this section and an alleyway will lead to to the beach.
Beach Parking Cost: IDR 5,000 for scooters
Beach Entry Price: Free
We see other sites mentioning there is a fee but when we went there was no where to pay and even our friends who had a scooter and went the parking lot entrance didn’t have to pay a Bingin Beach entrance fee either.
How To Access The Beach: 200m or a 5-minute walk down the cliff stairs from the beach drop-off address. The distance is 300m from the parking area. We definitely broke a sweat on our walk back up.
Can you swim at this beach: Yes, however, keep in mind there are better beaches for swimming. Some may find it unpleasant as it can get slippery and rocky due to all the shallow coral. We saw tons of surfers surfing into the sunset.
4. Nunggalan Beach
Nunggalan Beach epitomizes tranquility among all the Uluwatu Bali beaches. If you’re looking for the most relaxing and least busy beach, this is the one to visit! It’s the ultimate hidden gem which has the longest and widest shoreline of all the Uluwatu Bali beaches we visited! Once you make it to the bottom you will also discover a small but cool, distinctive shipwreck on the beach.
Now on to the beauty of the beach, the white sand felt nearly untouched, and the pristine turquoise waters. This was the cleanest and most peaceful beach we visited in all of Bali! Lying back sunbathing and listening to the waves was truly therapeutic!
However, to experience this stunning beach you will have to hike down from the top of the cliff parking. If you enjoy hiking or love to break a bit of a sweat, then you will have no problem. The hike down is approximately 20 to 30 minutes and the hike up is double, ~1 hour with breaks. We recommend bringing water bottles, snacks, comfy shoes, and sandals. You may experience some encounters with monkeys however, we didn’t have any issues! Just keep all plastic bags and water bottles inside the backpack.
The scenic charm of the hike down although not easy was picturesque. Overall, despite the workout up and down to arrive at the beach, it was one of our favorites! We would return to this beach again! Best to visit in the morning when it’s not as hot. A few umbrellas and beach chairs may be available for rent between IDR 50,000 to 100,000.
Scooter Parking: Jl. Batu Nunggalan No.8, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Same as scooter parking (get dropped off near Villa Plenilunio Bali).
Nunggalan Beach Parking Cost: IDR 2,000 IDR for scooters
Beach Entry Price: Free
How To Access The Beach: 20 to 30-minute decline down a relatively steep terrain path. Beware of monkeys on your walk, we were lucky and followed a local who scared the monkeys off for us.
I will mention of all the beaches Nunggalan Beach was the most difficult access. It is not recommended for people with any mobility issues, young children or seniors. It may take double the time to get back up with breaks.
Can you swim at this beach: It depends! During high tide, the waves and currents are very strong and can be rocky in some areas. Therefore, we recommend using judgment on the day depending on how strong the current is!
5. Padang Padang Beach
Nestled on Bali’s southwestern coast, Padang Padang Beach is one of the most well-known Uluwatu Bali beaches. Its turquoise waters, ideal location, powdery sands, and lush greenery make it a hotspot.
Once you arrive, you will have a short descent on the cliffside staircase revealing a smaller but mighty beach! Surfers flock to ride the consistent waves, while beachgoers enjoy refreshments from nearby cafes. You can rent a surfboard on this beach for IDR 100,000 ($6.30 USD) and lessons for IDR 400,000 (25 USD). The waves were not as big as some of the other surrounding beaches. It’s also acceptable to negotiate with the vendors offering surf rentals if you feel comfortable.
It was one of the many activities we enjoyed doing in Uluwatu check out the full list of the Best 15 Things to do in Uluwatu.
Many people love just lounging on the beach and swimming! We sat at a local bar and enjoyed a cold drink after surfing! Something we didn’t expect was how busy it was with surfers. Therefore, if you decide to surf it can be a little dangerous because of the volume of surfers. However, it’s a unique beach with a stunning rock formation and aqua-blue waters. The lounging area is smaller therefore, we recommend coming early morning as the afternoon progresses it can get crowded.
Padang Padang Beach Scooter Parking: Jl. Labuansait No.69, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Jl. Labuansait, Padang Padang, Beach, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Beach Parking Cost: IDR 5,000 for scooters
Padang Padang Beach Entry Price: IDR 15,000 IDR per person
How To Access Padang Padang Beach: 5-minute walk down cement stairs from where you pay the entry fee. You may encounter some monkeys on the route down. The walk down is not very tough and you can tell the stairs have been developed as it’s very tourist popular.
Can you swim at this beach: Yes, the waves weren’t too rough for us! It’s a lovely beach to spend in and out of the water! The clear water and less rocky portion of the water make it suitable.
6. Thomas Beach
Thomas Beach is undeniably one of the best Uluwatu Bali beaches for swimming and relaxing. It offers a serene landscape with its golden sands and long beach that stretches about 200m. Therefore, you aren’t packed like sardines with others at arms-length like you may find on other beaches.
While you can rent surfboards for approximately IDR 50,000, the waves are relatively small. Therefore, it may be better suited for beginners looking to learn the mechanics of surfing. Also may be preferable if you have children who want to swim or aren’t as advanced swimmers.
There are beachside cafes that offer refreshments, we enjoyed an ice-cold coconut while lounging in our beach chairs. We rented an umbrella and two lounge chairs for IDR 100,000 and they didn’t give us a time limit. This was nice because we were able to lounge for several hours peacefully.
We would return to this beach in a heartbeat! It felt peaceful, intimate, clean, and romantic. We got dropped off by GrabBike, however, there are parking options available for scooters. Lastly, we recommend visiting during high tide if you plan to swim, as low tide won’t have the same water levels! You can check the tides here.
Scooter Parking: Jl. Labuansait No.10, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Same as Scooter Parking; this will lead you down a pebble stone path to the scooter parking. Just keep following the path where you will start to descend to the beach.
Thomas Beach Parking Cost: Free for scooters (pay by donation)
Beach Entry Price: Free (by donation, we highly recommend you bring some cash)
How To Access Thomas Beach: 5-minute walk down a set of stairs from scooter parking. If you get dropped off across from Suka Espresso Cafe, it’s about a 10-minute walk.
Can you swim at this beach: Yes, this was probably our favorite beach to swim because the waves and currents weren’t too strong. Just make sure you visit during higher tide!
7. Pandawa Beach
Tucked away on Bali’s southern Bukit Peninsula, Pandawa Beach emerges as a hidden paradise waiting to be explored. Unlike some beaches on the island, Pandawa provides clear, calm waters ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and water sports.
Carved limestone cliffs frame the coastline, creating a dramatic entrance to this coastal gem. Winding asphalt roads lead down to the shore, flanked by towering walls with intricately carved arches. When you arrive you will see statues depicting characters from the Mahabharata epic, after which the beach is named. Six majestic statues, including Dewi Kunti and the five heroic Pandavas, stand proudly along the cliffs.
We visited Roosterfish Beach Club for its Brunch Special and direct access to Pandawa Beach. The brunch menu offers so many incredible options, we loved it! You can pre-book cabanas and loungers while accessing all of its amenities for the day including showers. You can pre-book tickets for brunch, or different day passes in advance. What’s great about the beach club day pass is that you receive the equivalent cost of the ticket in food vouchers! The cabana holds up to ~4 people and can be shared among your friends and family.
Pandawa Beach Scooter Parking: 554P+49 Kutuh, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): 554P+26 Kutuh, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia
Beach Parking Cost: IDR 2,000 for scooters
Pandawa Beach Entry Price: IDR 10,000 Per Person at the gate before descending the hill in your scooter or Grab/Gojek
How To Access Pandawa Beach: Access to the beach is very easy, a very short walk with minimal to no stairs
Can you swim at this beach: Yes, we felt Pandawa Beach is relatively safe for swimming. The waters were crystal clear and beautiful when we visited.
8. Green Bowl Beach
Green Bowl Beach is one of the most secluded Uluwatu Bali beaches with natural beauty. It can be accessed via a steep staircase surrounded by lush greenery. We found this beach to be on the smaller side but very intimate and peaceful away from the crowds. Part of the reason is that we visited during high tide which swallowed up a good portion of the beach. We have seen pictures during low tide and it’s simply stunning!
Swimming may be possible during low tide however, we didn’t swim because of the very strong waves at high tide. We loved the uniqueness of the beach shaped like a bowl surrounded by golden sand, a cave, and beautiful water.
This is one of the beaches similar to Nunggalan, that hasn’t yet been discovered by many tourists visiting Uluwatu. There is even a cool cave where you can catch some shade and relax. If we were to visit again, we would likely choose to come during low tide early morning. If you arrive during high tide in the afternoon, you may arrive with minimal beach like we did.
Green Bowl Scooter Parking: Jl. Pantai Green Bowl No.300, Ungasan, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Same as scooter parking
Beach Parking Cost: Free for scooters
Green Bowl Beach Entry Price: IDR 5,000
How To Access Greenbowl Beach: The access down the cliff is moderately steep. It’s approximately 300 steps down concrete stairs which took us about 10 minutes.
Can you swim at this beach: Yes, during low tide it may be possible to swim but beware when the tide is high for safety reasons. There are no lifeguards and it is possible that there may be others at the beach with you but it isn’t tourist popular because of its small size and no shops nearby.
9. Private Beach @ Sundays Beach Club
Sundays Beach Club is a luxurious beachfront retreat located along the pristine shores of Bali’s southern coast. It’s located inside the Ungansan Resort, if you’re not staying at the resort, proceed through the main entrance. With its idyllic setting and upscale amenities, it offers one memorable escape for travelers seeking relaxation and indulgence. Our jaws dropped the moment we walked through the doors, panoramic views over the cliff into the Indian Ocean.
To get to Sunday’s Beach Club, you will take a cool funicular down to the bottom of the cliff. The first thing we noticed was how clean and exclusive the beach is. You can relax on plush sun loungers or cozy bean bags scattered across the golden sands.
The club offers a range of recreational activities, including kayaking, snorkeling, and stand-up paddleboarding. For those seeking a more laid-back experience, grab a lounge chair, listen to music, and take in the rays! Although we didn’t swim, it looked very enticing and clean to enjoy the stunning aqua-blue waters. In the night they will have bonfires on the beach. We saw many families with young children having a blast!
You can pre-book a day pass for Sunday’s Beach Club. We opted to join later in the afternoon & evening for a romantic date and booked movies on the beach! There are many great Uluwatu bali beaches however, this was one to indulge in and visit again next time!
Scooter Parking: Jl. Pantai Sel. Gau Banjar Wijaya Kusuma, Ungasan, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80362, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Same as scooter parking address
Beach Parking Cost: Free for scooters
Sunday’s Beach Club Entry Price: Regular Adult Day Pass IDR 650,000 (includes 250,000 entrance fee and 400,000 in food voucher), Child (Ages 5-11) 300,000 (Includes 100,000 entrance fee and 200,000 food voucher)
How To Access The Beach: Very easy, minimal stairs. You will take a funicular down to the entrance to avoid walking down the entire cliff.
Can you swim at this beach: Yes, we saw many engaging in water sports and swimming!
10. Melasti Beach
Melasti Beach is another one of the Uluwatu Bali beaches tucked away from the busy tourist areas. We were pleasantly surprised by how much there is to do around this beach and also nearby Pandawa Beach.
The beach is named after the traditional Hindu ceremony of Melasti, symbolizing purification and spiritual cleansing. Melasti Beach is known for its dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear waters, making it ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and photography.
Adventurous souls can explore hidden caves and rock formations, while nature lovers can admire the diversity that thrives along the coastline.
Any beach club fans out there! We recommend visiting Tropical Temptation Beach Club and pre-booking a day pass. Whatever option you choose, the cost of the day pass is returned to you in the form of a food voucher!
Melasti Beach Scooter Parking: 5527+P89, Ungasan, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Same as scooter parking
Melasti Beach Parking Cost: IDR 2,000 for scooters
Beach Entry Price: IDR 10,000 per person
How To Access The Beach: Very easy, less than a 5-minute walk from the entrance/parking area.
Can you swim at this beach: Yes, we saw many people swimming when the waves appeared calm and shallow.
11. Nyang Nyang Beach
Nyang Nyang Beach is one of the hidden gems of the Uluwatu Bali beaches waiting to be discovered. It’s accessible via a winding pathway through lush vegetation, this secluded beach allows you to escape the crowds!
Known for its expansive shoreline and rugged cliffs, Nyang Nyang Beach boasts breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. The remote location and untouched beauty make it an ideal spot for those seeking a beach to sunbathe and lounge. Be prepared for a steep hike down and may not be suitable for those who don’t want to hike. It’s about a 500m-700m distance downhill. Therefore, we don’t recommend it for more elderly or mobility challenged.
It’s technically the beach that has the airplane you see all over Pinterest but from what I’ve heard you can no longer visit it because they have turned it into a luxury villa as seen in this piece by Design Boom. So don’t expect it to look like this abandoned aircraft anymore that you can climb up to take photos, it isn’t the case.
This beach is not suitable for swimming due to its strong currents, and rocky coral in the shallow areas. It offers plenty of opportunities for leisurely walks along the sand. With more secluded beaches, we recommend packing snacks and water as vendor stands may be hard to find.
Nyang Nyang Beach Scooter Parking: 54R7+VF Pecatu, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Jl. Labuansait Jl. Pantai Bingin, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80364, Indonesia
Beach Parking Cost: Free
Nyang Nyang Beach Entry Price: Donations in any small amount (~IDR 3,000-10,000) are appreciated to help keep the beach clean. There should be a donation box.
How To Access The Beach: Steep 500-600m decline downhill to arrive at the beach. Would not recommend it for the elderly or for those who experience mobility issues.
Can you swim at this beach: Yes, however, keep in mind there are better beaches for swimming. Some may find it unpleasant as it can get slippery and rocky due to all the shallow coral. We saw tons of surfers surfing into the sunset.
12. Batu Barak Beach
Yes, this is the beach with the large cliffs in Uluwatu! As you enter Batu Barak Beach, you’ll be greeted by the unique towering cliffs flanking each side of the coastline. These limestone cliffs add a distinctive touch to the beach’s landscape, with their rugged formations creating a dramatic entrance.
We have to be honest, we mainly visited this beach initially because of the towering cliffs. The beach itself is peaceful and smaller depending on when you visit. We visited during high tide so there wasn’t a massive beach! We found the beach and surrounding area were worth the charm and located close to Pandawa Beach! The beach itself is not suitable for swimming because of the rocky shore and slippery coral.
We love the Uluwatu Bali beaches however, visiting Batu Barak provided us with an undifferentiated unique experience!
Batu Barak Beach Scooter Parking: 554F+3P7, Kutuh, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia
Beach Drop Off (Don’t Need Parking): Same as scooter parking
Beach Parking Cost: Free
Batu Barak Beach Entry Price: IDR 15,000 per person
How To Access The Beach: Very easy! Proceed through the towering cliffs that lead you right to the beach. There’s a road where you can take a scooter but it can be quite steep if you are not a regular rider. We got dropped off at the cliffs where you pay your fee then walked down the paved path that inclines down to the beach. There is one set of steps to get to the actual beach that is quite steep but short.
Can you swim at this beach: No, we wouldn’t recommend swimming as the shore is covered with coral and rock.
