In this Busan travel guide, we will share the 15 things to do & eat in Busan. This travel hack is one of our favorites when we travel to big cities.

Where to Stay in Busan

Busan offers a wide variety of beautiful accommodations, but before we dive into our hotel recommendations, we’ve provided the three best areas to stay in when visiting Busan.

Haeundae is arguably the most well-known and visited neighborhood by tourists. Home to the famous Haeundae Beach, which is surrounded by hotels, resorts, restaurants, and bars. Busan X The Sky, Haeundae Market, and the Busan Aquarium are also nearby.

  • BUDGET Popcorn Hostel Haeundae: Clean and cozy rooms await just a short distance to Haeundae Beach.
  • Mid-Tier: Novotel Ambassador Busan: Modern amenities, including a rooftop bar with breathtaking views and a convenient location near Haeundae Beach.
  • Luxury: The Westin Chosun Busan: A five-star luxury hotel offering gorgeous rooms, stunning fine dining options, a serene pool, and a prime beachfront location. 

A lively neighborhood well known for its street food scene, shopping, and cultural attractions, Nampodong is situated in the center of downtown Busan. It is a great option for those interested in visiting places like the Jagalchi Fish Market, Busan Tower, and the Gamcheon Culture Village.

  • BUDGET: Busan Backpackers: Offers affordable accommodation in the centre of Nampodong, close to vibrant street food, and cultural attractions of the area.
  • MID-TIER: Hotel Foret Premier Nampo: located in the bustling Nampodong district, offering easy access to shopping, dining, and cultural sites.
  • LUXURY: Lotte Hotel Busan: Lotte Hotel Busan is known for its lavish interior design, incredible service, and a wealth of amenities, including a casino and gourmet dining options.

Home to Gwangalli Beach and Milac The Market, it’s another popular choice in the middle of Haeundae and Nampodong. It offers a mix of modern accommodations, a vibrant nightlife scene, and scenic views of the Gwangan Bridge. If you’re interested in attractions in all three areas this could be an attractive option

  • BUDGET: Kyungsung Hostel: Affordable, provides basic and convenient access to Gwangalli Beach and local eateries and many food options.
  • Mid-Tier: Kent Hotel Gwangalli by Kensington: Provides a very nice balance of affordability, rooms are clean, wonderful staff, and a prime location near Gwangan Beach and many cafes, and food options.
  • Luxury: Park Hyatt Busan: A five-star gem in the Gwangan area offering premium accommodations, panoramic sea views, wonderful dining options, and a unique ambiance for a very comfortable stay.

#1 Visit Songdo Beach

Songdo Beach spans 80 meters long with beautiful sand and is swimmable. You can walk over to the Songdo Cloud Trails near the beach. Songdo Bay Station is right beside the cloud trails which is where we boarded the stunning air cruise that allows you to glide 36 ft in the air over the mesmerizing blue waters, providing unparalleled panoramic views on route to the suspension bridge. Once you disembark the air cruise, walk 5 minutes to the Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge which extends from Amnam Park to Dongseom Island. 4 unique sites within the same vicinity!

#4 Jagalchi Market

South Korea's Largest Seafood Market

You have to visit Jagalchi Fish Market, South Korea’s largest seafood market located in Busan. Jagalchi Market, often dubbed the “Fisherman’s Wharf of Korea,” boasts an extensive array of fresh seafood, from live fish and crabs to exotic creatures of the deep sea. We loved that you could pick the freshest seafood from a vendor, and have all the food prepared right away upstairs in the beautiful dining area overlooking the harbor.

The walking distance between Busan Tower and Jagalchi Market is approximately 1.2 kilometers (about 0.75 miles). It takes around 15 to 20 minutes to walk from Busan Tower to Jagalchi Market, making it a convenient and enjoyable stroll for visitors exploring the area.

#5 Biff Square

Culture, Commerce, and Street Food and Culinary Delights in the Heart of Busan

Biff Square, Seoul’s vibrant cultural hub, is known for its rich cinematic history, street markets, Korean street food, and trendy boutiques. Located in the heart of the city, make your way near the late afternoon to early evening when the street food vendors start making a lot of great food. You have to try the apple cream waffles, absolutely sensational! We ended up eating dinner here while sampling different street food from multiple vendor stalls.

Ride the viral Seaside Beach Train & Sky Capsule

Explore Busan’s coastal beauty aboard the Seaside train, taking in iconic viewpoints like the Cheongsapo Daritdol Skywalk and the beautiful red lighthouse. For a serene coastal journey, opt for the viral sky capsule which travels about 4km/h taking 30 minutes one way).

What we did: We started our adventure by catching the early beach train (included in Visit Busan Pass) from Mipo Station to Dartidol Skywalk, relishing the panoramic views from the observatory. After a delightful walk of 500 meters, we reached Cheongsapo Station, where we secured our Sky Capsule Tickets. The prices vary based on the number of people, and considering their fast-selling nature at Mipo Station, it’s wise to purchase them promptly at Cheongsapo Station. Alternatively, you can pre-book online via the Blueline Park website for the Sky Capsule experience.
