Getting to Sanur Harbor (Departure)
The most efficient and cheapest way to get to Sanur Harbor depends on your location in Bali. Never underestimate the amount of traffic you might face in Bali. So even though the we are showing you that you can travel from Bali to Nusa Penida by speed boat quickly you do need to get yourself to the Sanur Harbour.
Grab App Or Taxi
If you’re in the southern part of the island, such as Kuta, Seminyak, or Ubud, taking a ride-sharing service like Grab is convenient and quick. Grab is like the Uber of Bali, the downside is that you may run into surged pricing because of traffic which can be heavy in Bali. Sanur Harbor has many local taxi companies therefore, you may also run into disgruntled taxi local drivers who have resistance to Grab.
Hotel Shuttle
Many hotels and resorts in Bali provide shuttle services to Sanur Harbor for their guests. We recommend checking with your accommodation if this service is available especially if you’re staying in Sanur. This would make your morning efficient before you make the trip from Bali to Nusa Penida.
Book a Private Charter “We Recommend”
When transporting luggage we normally recommend booking a private car charter. We have only experienced great things with the drivers communicating well, fixed prices regardless of traffic, and in many cases it was the cheapest option.
Car Charter From Ubud, Canggu, Jimbaran: $8.95 USD
Car Charter From Airport to Sanur Harbor: $8.95 USD
*Prices quoted in USD are subject to change.

We pre-booked our tickets online and we will walk through the process to ensure you are prepared before departure. Whichever transportation you choose, you will need to get dropped off outside the Axe Stone booth to check in! You will need to show the online booking confirmation to receive a lanyard and your return ticket.

Luggage
Online it mentions there is a one-handbag limit, however, there was not a limit on luggage when we checked in. We brought 4 suitcases (2 large and 2 carry-on) on the trip from Bali to Nusa Penida. You simply drop off your luggage when you check in and the crew will handle the rest.
The Waiting Area
Sanur Harbor built a brand new harbor that allows all passengers to board from the concrete loading dock. There is a nice air-conditioned waiting area where you will wait prior to boarding.
Boarding the Boat
A lot of blogs that haven’t updated their information will tell you that you might need to get your feet wet or wear sandals because boarding the boat requires you to get into the water. That is not the case for your journey from Bali to Nusa Penida! It’s a brand-new port there’s no situation where you would have to get wet! You will wear a tag so the staff can identify you, and get you on the right boat.
The Boat & Seating
Your pre-booked ticket guarantees you a seat on the boat for the specific day of your choice. The seating from Bali to Nusa Penida is not pre-assigned, and seats are on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Duration & Arrival
The total trip from Bali to Nusa Penida took approximately 35 minutes to arrive at Maruti Port in Nusa Pendia. Overall, the trip was smooth and quick, the boat was clean and appeared to be well-maintained from our experience. The crewman will help unload all the luggage from the boat. There is a chance the luggage may get a little wet from the trip however, when we unpacked everything was dry inside!
Getting from Nusa Penida Port to your Hotel
There aren’t many options for transportation when arriving in Nusa Penida. The main options will be taking a local taxi or shuttle upon arrival. Alternatively, you can pre-arrange pickup from your accommodation where applicable.
From our experience, we noticed it will cost a minimum of 100,000 IDR (~$6 USD) regardless of the distance to your accommodation when choosing a local taxi when you arrive. We recommend checking with your accommodation or you will likely have to take a local taxi when you arrive.
If you’re traveling light without luggage and only a backpack, you may find walking more cost-effective if you’re staying close to the harbor.
