How To Get To Bingin Beach

There are two different ways we recommend getting to Bingin Beach. You can drive yourself in a car or scooter or ride-sharing service. The two common ride-hailing apps are Grab and Gojek. These operate like Uber in most countries however, you can take a car or hop on a scooter. If you’re experienced in riding scooters it can be an efficient way to park and drive yourself. Although we always use Grab or Gojek cars for longer distances and scooters for short distances.

Best Time to Visit Bingin Beach

The best time to visit Bingin Beach is during the dry season. This typically runs from April to October, when the weather is sunny. If you’re a surfer this is the ideal time for surfing. For fewer crowds, consider visiting on weekdays or early mornings. As the day progresses the beaches are busier, especially in the busy season. Surfers will find the most consistent waves between May and October. During the wet season, from November to March, the area is quieter and the landscape is lush, but expect occasional rain. Regardless of the season, it’s a wonderful experience.

Do you have to pay to access Bingin Beach?

There is no entrance fee or donation expected to access Bingin Beach. However, if you’re driving to the beach on a scooter or car, there will be parking fees. The parking fees as noted above are 5,000 IDR for a scooter and 10,000 IDR for a car. It’s not uncommon to find beaches that either charge entrance fees or beach staff expecting a small donation to enter.

How many steps are there to Bingin Beach?

Accessing Bingin Beach in Bali requires walking down a relatively steep set of steps from the cliff-top parking area. The step count can vary depending on which path you take. You can expect between 150-190 steps from the start of the walking path to the shore of the beach. The descent can be challenging, especially for those who struggle with physical or cardiovascular limitations. In any event, we recommend wearing comfortable, sturdy footwear, and staying hydrated. The climb back up is more demanding, particularly in hot or wet conditions. Take breaks when needed but the reward is worth the hike up and down the cliff!

Things to Do at Bingin Beach

Surfing

This beach is renowned for its world-class waves. It’s more suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers. You can find surfboard rentals and lessons offered by visiting local shops along the beach. However, in our opinion, there are better beaches for lessons if you’re a beginner. We don’t recommend beginner surfers.

Relaxation & Swimming At The Beach

You can swim and enjoy the golden sands during low tide. Alternatively, you can relax at one of the beachfront warungs, and enjoy a cold beer. We loved the ambiance of this beach and will discuss our seafood feast in the restaurant section of this guide.

One of the best things to do at Bingin Beach is enjoy a seafood feast. We recommend Lucky Fish which was packed full of people by the time the sun set. Selecting your fresh seafood is a straightforward and enjoyable process. Upon arrival, you’re typically shown the day’s catch. It will be displayed on ice or in a chilled cooler. You can pick from options like fish (mahi-mahi, tuna, snapper), prawns, squid, or clams. Once you’ve made your choice, the staff will cook, and BBQ your food!

Your meal is then served with traditional Indonesian sides, such as steamed rice, sambal (spicy chili paste), fresh vegetables, and sometimes a light salad or crispy crackers. Dining here as the sun set over the ocean was a memorable experience. You can enjoy the sound of waves in the background, followed by live music makes for a truly memorable experience. We recommend arriving between 5:00-5:30 pm. This way you can beat the queue to order your fish. It can get very busy, and if you show up later expect to wait longer for your food.

FAQs: Bingin Beach

Here are answers to some of the most common questions about Bingin Beach.

Is Bingin Beach worth it?

Absolutely! Bingin Beach offers stunning views, excellent surfing conditions, and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s also one of the best places in Uluwatu to watch the sunset on a clear evening. Furthermore, if you enjoy seafood, you can experience a BBQ seafood dining experience that’s not to be missed.

Bingin Beach is among Bali’s most beautiful beaches. It’s known for its secluded charm and natural beauty. However, Suluban Beach, also known as Blue Point Beach is commonly known to be the prettiest beach in Bali. Known for its limestone cliffs that make a unique cove around the iconic beach.

Yes, swimming is possible at Bingin Beach. However, be cautious of strong waves, especially during high tide. In addition, this beach is known to have the presence of coral close to the shoreline. It can be slippery and sharp. We recommend observing the waters beforehand!

It’s situated on the Bukit Peninsula, near Uluwatu, in southwestern Bali.

Bingin Beach is known for its powerful left-hand reef break. You will find many intermediate and advanced surfers. However, conditions can vary with the tide. I wouldn’t recommend it for beginner surfers due to the presence of coral and the size of the waves during low tide.  Beginners should consult local surf schools or guides to ensure safety. There may be better beaches like Thomas beach to learn how to surf with smaller waves.

There is no entrance fee to visit Bingin Beach. Keep in mind that if you drive yourself on a scooter or car you will need to pay for parking. Parking fees range from 5,000 IDR (Scooter) to 10,000 IDR (Car). We prefer to take a bolt or grab to over parking, and to be safe when having a drink or two at the beach!

Yes, Bingin Beach has ~150-190 stairs from the top of the cliff down to the sandy shores. The ease of access is moderate and you should not have any problems if you aren’t physically limited. Wear comfortable shoes and take your time!

Bingin Beach: Our Review

Bingin Beach in Bali is a special place that mixes natural beauty, adventure, and local charm. Located on the southwestern coast of the Bukit Peninsula, this quiet beach is surrounded by green cliffs. It gives a private and peaceful feel. Known for its strong waves, Bingin Beach is popular among experienced surfers. It’s especially busy between May to October when the waves are best. Beginners can try calmer waves at Thomas Beach or Dreamland Beach. Besides surfing, the beach’s soft sand and calm atmosphere make it perfect for relaxing. We loved watching stunning sunsets that filled the sky with golden orange hues.

Getting to Bingin Beach means walking down a set of steps from the cliff. It adds to its charm but can be tiring on the way back. Small local cafes along the cliffs serve fresh seafood and Indonesian dishes, with great views of the ocean. Places to stay range from simple beach huts to fancy villas, fitting all budgets. Staying overnight lets you fully enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and explore the area.

In short, Bingin Beach offers the best of Bali’s coast, with great surfing, beautiful scenery, and a touch of local life. Whether you’re surfing, relaxing, or just enjoying the views, Bingin Beach is a place you won’t forget. If you’re interested in a hidden gem beach, check out our Green Bowl Beach guide below.
