Best Time to Visit Busan

Busan is a year-round tourist destination with various attractions during each season. The spring season (April to June) is distinguished by beautiful cherry blossoms and comfortable weather. While the summer monsoon (rainy) season lasts from July through August, it also delivers sunny beach days. The autumn season (September to November) offers pleasant weather and vibrant foliage. Those who like milder weather and festive festivities will find winter (December to February) to be preferable.

When selecting the ideal time to appreciate Busan’s varied offerings, take your interests and other activities into account.

Busan offers a wide variety of beautiful accommodations, but before we dive into our hotel recommendations, we’ve provided the three best areas to stay in when visiting Busan. Search the following areas when you are looking for accommodation in Busan. It is close to most attractions and main necessities.

Map & Location Info

We definitely recommend that you visit Busan Tower if you purchased a Busan Discover Pass, it is included in the list of free attractions. At the time of this writing, we did not find a reputable place to purchase the tickets online at a discount. We tried the main website, but it kept crashing on us. You can buy the tickets in person, they have a ticket counter and multiple kiosks where you can purchase tickets. There will likely not be a long queue.

Our Experience & Guide

Entrance to Busan Tower

Busan Tower is located in the Yongdusan Park in the Jung-gu district of the city. It actually stands on top of a hill that is about 120 meters above sea level. There’s lots of attractions in the area like the Busan Modern History Museum, Eye Trick Museum, Busan Museum of Movies, and of the famous Jagalchi Market!

When you arrive the entrance isn’t obvious as you can see. Once you get here you’ve got to get up to the hill! Don’t worry there are escalators to help you get up there. You could opt for the stairs too if you’re feeling a workout.

Busan Tower, South Korea – Escalators up

You kind of feel like you’ve entered into a galactic world as you make your way up to the Busan Tower entrance. Once you exit the escalator area you can clearly see Busan Tower! You’re getting closer. Unfortunately, the escalators stop here, but for people with mobility issues, we did see on the right hand side a detour where it seems there is a driveway of some sort.

The ground leading up to Busan Tower was clean, well-maintained, and had tons of fantastic photo spots, we did enjoy our walk up!

Busan Tower, South Korea – Tickets

We used our 48-Hour Busan Discover Pass. I highly recommend you read our article on this because we did 238,000 KRW (~$180 USD) worth of attractions including this one for only 69,000 KRW (~$52 USD) over 48 hours. There was no lineup! Yay!

They will ask you if you want to opt in and play a mission where you visit multiple sections of the observatory in search of QR codes to find a series of numbers. Once you collect them all you can redeem a prize at the end. It sounded easy enough, so we did it.

Busan Tower, South Korea – Observatory Views

The elevator up takes a couple of seconds. Once you get up there you’ll see the beautiful panoramic views of Busan! There are 4 sections of the observatory to note.

Busan Tower | Section 1

I will say this is the best section to see the panoramic views of Busan’s skyline, mountains, and cityscape and honestly to take photos. We thought the other areas would look like this too but nope, they are COMPLETELY different. I will get into that soon.

Busan Tower | Section 2

Submarine-themed section of Busan Tower where there are interactive activities like taking photos of yourself and then seeing your face appear on screen as if we were in a submarine. Kids would surely love this section. Then you’ll head down a series of stairs to the third section.

Busan Tower | Section 3

The colorful area is what I will call this, it looks like a paint color palette. There were signs that said Busan Tower where you can take photos, but there were no windows to see the views.

Busan Tower | Section 4

Neon lights area of Busan Tower is what I will call this, we saw cool murals. This area had black lights and there was a section where you could look down (where typically it would be like a glass floor) but this wasn’t it. I wasn’t sure what we were looking at. I guess you’ll just need to experience it yourself.

Busan Tower QR Code Mission Complete

After our exploration, we headed back to the elevator and down to the ground floor. We completed the mission! Well, the staff helped us with 3 numbers we could not find, there were some outside the souvenir shop we missed. Once you have all your numbers type them into the ticket machines where you entered, then a reward coupon will pop out.

You need both the original tickets and the reward ticket to redeem the prize. We lost our original ticket but they allowed us to choose from a prize jar. The options were a pencil, hand sanitizer wipes, and a Busan Tower Soju glass. We didn’t get the Soju glass, but we got a pencil and hand sanitizer wipes that were useful.

Let us know if you have any questions in the comments.

Our Thoughts

Overall Thoughts:

Busan Tower is a conveniently located attraction that provides visitors with impressive views of Busan’s cityscape, ocean, and mountains. As a couple who enjoys visiting observatories, we appreciated the unexpected fun of the different sections and the cute addition to the mission. However, we do wish we were informed that the first section was the main observatory, as we would have liked to spend more time there. Overall, we do not regret this experience, especially because we did it with our Busan Discover Pass.

Value for Money:

At 12000 KRW (~$9 USD), Busan Tower offers great value for money compared to other observatories we have visited. We enjoyed it more than N-Seoul Tower, which provides a helpful reference point for those who have been there. While Busan X the Sky has a different vibe and is our top choice for observatories, it is also double the price, so it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re on a budget.

How much did we like this attraction?
We really enjoyed it!
