What You Need To Know

Language

The most common language in Japan is Japanese, and while English is understood to some extent in the tourism sector, it may not be widely spoken or comprehended by the locals. It’s recommended to download the Google Translate app.

Entry Requirements

For Japan, tourists can receive up to 90-day visa-free entry upon arrival, and proof of vaccination or test results are not required for entry. However, it’s advisable to check if your country is on the visa-exempt list.

Currency

The main currency used in Japan is the Japanese Yen. It is denoted by the currency code JPY, and the symbol ¥. Common denominations used are 1,000 yen, 5,000 yen, and 10,000 yen.

Outlets

In Japan, the power plugs and sockets are of type A and B. Type A has two flat pins, while type B has two flat pins and a grounding pin. We recommend a universal adapter that offers many types of power plug variations which is useful for international travel.

When is the best time to visit Japan?

The best time to visit Japan depends on the attractions and cultural sites you’re interested in. Spring (March to May) is ideal for cherry blossoms and comfortable outdoor activities, while Fall (September to November) offers cooler weather and vibrant foliage. Summer (June to August) features festivals and fireworks but can be hot and humid, while Winter (December to February) is perfect for winter sports and hot springs.
